1992 – 2022: this year the Augusteo theater celebrates its first 30 years of activity with a program full of shows, music, great performers and artists of excellence, ready to fill its room to entertain, excite with musicals, comedies and concerts, but also to revive the Neapolitan tradition by bringing on stage works by great authors of the past and to allow the new generations to get to know it.
What has just passed has been a successful season, beyond all expectations. The public returned with desire and interest to attend the shows, and in the wake of these results Giuseppe Caccavale and Roberta Starace Caccavale, respectively artistic director and general manager of the Augusteo theater, are proud to present the new season: “In line with the mission del Teatro has chosen to continue to focus on tradition with top-level companies, in fact the opening is entrusted to “La donna è mobile”, a Trianon Viviani production, from 28 October to 6 November, a musical comedy by Vincenzo Scarpetta directed by Francesco Saponaro, live music by Mariano Bellopede and a large and close-knit company of actors. In February, instead, one of the most famous works by Eduardo Scarpetta is the protagonist, “Il medico dei pazzi”, directed by Claudio Di Palma and an excellent newly formed company.
In November, from 11 to 20, the comedy of Paolo Caiazzo, always an attentive critic of everyday life, who writes with Francesco Procopio about the separation of a couple after many years of marriage in “Separati ma non molto”: on stage with their Nunzia Schiano, Giovanni Allocca, Daniele Ioia, Irene Grasso. Following, on the strength of the exceptional double success of audiences and critics of 2021 at the Augusteo, from 25 November to 4 December the new comedy written, directed and with Carlo Buccirosso “The grass of the neighbor is always greener” with a cast in way of definition.
The Christmas holidays are entrusted to Sal Da Vinci, who with Ciro Villano is responsible for writing and directing the new and exciting musical comedy “Masaniello Revolution”, with the arrangements and musical direction of Maestro Adriano Pennino. On stage with Sal and Ciro Villano, Fatima Trotta, Davide Marotta, Enrico Lama, Francesco Da Vinci and many others including musicians and dancers in a narrative that will give life to a historical figure whose lesson is of a shocking topicality: never put the power in the hands of one man.
In January 2023, from 20 to 29, after the great success they had in Rome, Diana Del Bufalo and Baz, explosive and entertaining, will be the protagonists, accompanied by 20 other performers, of the overwhelming musical “Seven brides for seven brothers”, libretto by Lawrence Kasha & David Landay, directed and choreographed by Luciano Cannito, lyrics by Johnny Mercer, music by Gene De Paul, musical direction by Beppe Vessicchio.
For subscribers, from 19 to 26 February 2023, Checco Zalone returns to the theater after 11 years and after beating all records in the history of Italian cinema, as an option while seats are available, a show worthy of laugh, totally unpublished, in which music, stories, imitations and parodies will be accompanied by the unmistakable irony of the Apulian artist, who takes care of the writing with Sergio Maria Rubino and Antonio Iammarino.
From 3 to 12 March 2023 people continue to laugh with Biagio Izzo and Mario Porfito in the hilarious comedy “The strange couple”, while from 17 to 26 March the skill and elegance of Gino Rivieccio will be staged in “Get comfy”, directed by Giancarlo Drillo and with the Minale Big Band.
In April, from 14 to 23, it will be the turn of Massimo Ranieri, unique artist and much loved by the public, finally with the new musical show written and directed by him “All dreams still in flight”.
At the end of the season, always with the subscription option formula, Stefano De Martino will also get back into the game as a dancer and will surprise us with his unpredictability in “Better tonight, a quasi-one man show” by Stefano De Martino and Riccardo Cassini, who also directs. With him also 8 orchestras of the Desperata Erotica Band.
In addition, many concerts and events will enrich a sparkling theatrical season: the new show with Massimo Masiello, from 13 to 15 March 2023, “Palcoscenico”, written and directed by Gianni Conte, with arrangements by Lino Pariota, in pre-emption formula for subscribers ; the show written by Leonardo Ippolito, with the artistic advice of Giorgio Verdelli, from 11 to 14 May 2022, “Simmo ‘e Napule paisà” which tells, with live orchestra accompaniment, through facts and anecdotes, the evolution of Naples from the end of the Second World War to today, thanks to a group of professional singers and with the support of a dance troupe.
In addition to the usual, highly anticipated cultural event of Artecinema, the concerts by Gigi D’Alessio, the Negramaro, the new show by Pio and Amedeo, Francesco Renga, Marco Masini, the Pink Floyd Legend, Daniele Silvestri, the new show by Alessandro Cattelan, the concert by Maestro Giovanni Allevi, Ermal Meta, the new show by Maurizio Battista, the concert by Joe Satriani, and many others that will be announced shortly.
