House of Gucci

There comes a first, particular judgment, for House of Guccinew film by Ridley Scott on the events of the family linked to the world of fashion, and to bestow this judgment is Tom Ford, a successful director whose character also appears in the film.

Tom Ford in fact he quickly achieved success as a designer in Milan in 1995; that year Maurizio Gucci he was killed by a gunshot on the orders of his ex-wife Patrizia. In Ridley Scott’s film it is Reeve Carney to impersonate the well-known American designer and director – author of Nocturnal animals And A Single Man. Ford, after seeing the film, he complained about it, saying that he had lost the sense of the story itself; he on the other hand appreciated the strong interpretations of Lady Gaga (in the role of Patriziawho complained that the actress did not want to meet her) and di Jeremy Irons (in the role of Rodolfofather of Maurizio).

Tom Ford in fact he wrote: “The brilliant, ambitious, beautifully shot and constructed tale is crowned by the large number of stars in the cast. The film revives the night soap opera Dynasty for the thin but does it with a large budget. Directed by the master of filmmakers Ridley Scott, with on stage Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek and so many others, the film turns out to be… well, I’m still not sure what it is exactly, but I somehow felt like I was living in a hurricane when I left the theater. Was it just a farce or a gripping story of greed? I often laughed while watching the movie, but was I supposed to? Sometimes, when Al Pacino (Aldo Gucci) and Jared Leto (Aldo’s son, Paul) were on screen, I wasn’t quite sure I wasn’t looking at the version of the story Saturday Night Live.

Ford he also talked about the interpretation of Leto in the part of Paulthe black sheep of the family trying to slow down Patrizia And Maurizio in their rise to power. Of this he wrote: “Jared’s prowess as an actor is literally buried under latex prostheses … I met Paolo on many occasions, he was eccentric, and he did extravagant things in his life, but among all his attitude was certainly not like that crazy and mentally unstable than the one staged in the film “.

Ford has continued: “Due to the powerful reach of the cast, the plot is at its mercy… The further the film progresses, the more viewers are subjected to senseless and sometimes confusing scenes that appear to exist solely for the purpose of allowing the actors to to act”. The designer then focused on the scene in which Maurizio goes to celebrate it: “Maurizio was out when I became the creative director of the brand and created my first collection. He certainly never gave me a toast after the show. Films have a way of seeing reality in human minds, an alternative reality that sometimes obscures the actual reality “.

Tom ford concluded by writing: “I was deeply saddened after seeing House of Gucci. I’ve experienced a reaction that I think only some of us who have really known the characters will experience. It was hard for me to see the humor and witness something so bloody. It was sometimes absurd, but ultimately tragic “.
