Saoro Ferre, Rosa López, Jaime Vicedo, Raquel Ortells and Darío Torrent, respectively, interpret this crazy gallery of characters who will try to justify everything from anger to greed, lust, gluttony, laziness, envy or pride that have characterized various episodes of the country and its countrymen. The live music It is run by the group The Grannies, made up of José García del Real, David Campillos and José Montoro, who are joined by Rubén Marqués. Together they perform versions of classics like Don’t leave me this way (The Communards), Lady Marmelade (LaBelle) or Gotta go home (Boney M) and I will follow him (André Rieu) in a soundtrack that brings new meanings to the songs, increases the comedy of the scenes and turns the show into a party.

With the performances of Mi querida tonta España finished, after the Christmas holidays, the programming of the XII ‘Cicle de companyies valencianes’ continues with the world premiere of The ugliest woman in the world.

Of January 12 to 22 This co-production of La Penúltima and Dacsa will be on the bill. A piece written and directed by Manuel Valls, who gives life to one of its protagonists. Juan Carlos Garés and Lucía Aibar complete the cast of this work that recovers a part of the incredible but true story of Julia Pastrana, a mezzo-soprano who suffered from hypertrichosis, for which her skin was covered with hair and her appearance was reminiscent of that of a ape. The exploitation of her by her husband as a spectacle represents the objectification of women and those who are different, and invites us to establish a parallel with the current media, too often turned into ‘monster stops’. A project on the limits of human cruelty that has been developed within the ‘Graners de Creació’ program to stimulate the Valencian scene, with a creative and technical residency at Sala Russafa.

The second proposal for January of the cycle dedicated to the regional scene comes from Alarcón&Cornelles. Of January 26 to February 5 premiere an updated version of the text that Chema Cardeña and Jerónimo Cornelles wrote with two hands a little over a decade ago and that now comes renewed under the title From Hiroshima and Nagasaki (Tango for three).

This political satire exposes the ins and outs and goings-on of a scene that tends to remain in the shadows: that of advisers and senior officials. Its protagonists are three old college classmates who meet years later. Two of them accompany and advise the leader of opposing parties, while the third observes them from the disbelief of someone who, after a brief stint in politics, chose to oppose. Cornelles himself, Yolanda Muñoz and Rafa Alarcón are the leading trio in this acid comedy, directed by Cardeña. Full of poignant dialogues and nods to the present, the plot takes place in just a few heart-stopping hours and invites the viewer not to believe everything they see on the news.

IN THE FAMILY PROGRAMMING OF JANUARY, THE STAGE VERSION OF A FANTASTIC CINEMA CLASSIC AND INTERCULTURAL STORIES

Its protagonists are two adventurous sisters who travel the world. And wherever they set up their camp, the children are the first to come to be told stories, popular oral narratives from the countries they have visited, from Finland to Mongolia or Brazil.

Raquel Anadón and Gema Cruz interpret this piece with drama by Miguel A. Ortiz and Marian Pueo, a fun intercultural journey that emphasizes respect for differences, but also the points that unite children from any corner of the planet.
