One of the most anticipated releases of 2023 is the film by Barbie starring margot robbie and directed by Greta Gerwig, the director behind hits like Lady Bird Y little women.
When the film began development there in 2014 at Sony Pictures, no one knew quite what the live-action film based on the popular Mattel doll would be about or what the story would be. After changing writers and directors on more than one occasion, Warner Bros. ended up acquiring the rights to the film, with margot robbie starring and producing through her company LuckyChap Entertainment.

After leaked images from the shooting and the uncertainty surrounding the film, fans already have an idea of what to expect from the new movie of Barbie. Far from any convention that one might expect from a film based on the successful doll.
Warner Bros. finally released the first teaser trailer for Barbie. The trailer, narrated by Helen Mirren, opens with a skit referencing 2001: A Space Odyssey, Stanley Kubrick’s science fiction masterpiece. Set to Strauss’s iconic ‘Thus Spoke Zarathustra’, the teaser shows little girls playing with dolls with a bored expression. Soon a figure appears who will arrive to change everything and completely revolutionize game afternoons. There, in all her glory, we see a giant Barbie, played by Robbie, and the girls quickly dispose of their old dolls to make room for a new entertainment goddess.
With stunning sets and vibrant colors, the trailer also provides a glimpse of the musical numbers featuring the characters of Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Ncuti Gatwa.
The official premise of the film is still kept secret, but the first reports indicate that the story will continue Barbiewho is banished from her land to the real world, where she must learn to survive as a real woman.

The rest of the cast of the film includes Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, Nicola Coughlan, Emerald Fennell, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Rhea Perlman, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Ritu Arya, Jamie Demetriou , Alexandra Shipp and Hari Nef.
Gerwig recently recalled how difficult it was to sit down and write the script for Barbie, without really knowing what the story would be and where it would go. She even thought that it would be the end of her career as a director and screenwriter, but she still decided to accept her challenge.
the script of Barbie was written by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, and will hit theaters on July 21, 2023, where it will compete at the box office with oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan.
