night at school (Noc w przedszkolu) is a film directed by rafal skalski (Glitter) starring Piotr Witkowski Y Lena Gora.
It’s still Christmas, and this time a hero – who knows how to rap, how to be a father despite not being one, and do some MacGyver moves – is here to save her.
Plot
The kindergarten parent-teacher meeting/costume rehearsal for the Bethlehem play turns into a trial over the mischievous 5-year-old boy, defended by the boy’s mother’s partner. Initially driven by selfish motives, the man begins to mature into the role of father during the trial.
About the movie
Piotr Witkowski is back, but this time in a comedy. We have recently seen him in the action thriller Lesson Plan. On this occasion, he assumes the role of a less “heroic” character (in his sense of “anti-hero”) in this comedy that instead of taking place in a high school, takes place, as the title indicates, in a nursery. Eryk (Piotr Witkowski) continues to have a remarkable moral compass, and he doesn’t tolerate injustice of any kind, and I mean none. True to character for him, he declares, “We have to fight her,” referring to the injustice that is at the heart of the premise.
The film has a good cast, each playing their part convincingly, a group of parents each with their own agendas and fixations. Don’t worry, Eryk is there to put everyone in his place.
Noche en la Escuela plays on several fronts and to the constant misunderstanding. Being almost a play due to its location, it manages to get off stage at times and knows how to pose situations outside its genre (comedy, more or less bitter and sometimes black). It does so with more or less success, in a very “theatrical” development of characters and history in its conception that, for the film’s claims, gives a good result.
The script is well worked, forever, returning to the center of this little universe, Eryk. There are comic scenes, some parody and farce. We even got to see Eryk give a rap number.
If you liked “Lesson Plan”, or you are a fan of Witkowski, you may like it. As a movie lover, nothing new will be revealed to you, and if you don’t like children or parenthood, run away.
Our opinion
It comes out gracefully (fairly) of its (limited) claims. She focuses on the characters more than the artistic invoice and, as a visual expression, she contributes little.
