Teatro Sociale Rovigo presented the new 2022/2023 season

The Social Theater is ready to open its stage to the new Season.

The program will kick off on November 18 at 8.30 pm with Giuseppe Verdi’s RIGOLETTO.

The official presentation was held this morning at the Ridotto del Teatro, in the presence of the mayor Edoardo Gaffeo, the councilor for Culture Roberto Tovo, the artistic director Luigi Puxeddu and the director of Arteven Pierluca Donin.

We are happy to be able to present such a rich and precious program, with names of national and international fame and with castings also made up of young talents and artists from our territory.

The most famous works such as Rigoletto, I Capuleti and Montecchi, Il Trovatore and the Barber of Seville, extraordinary actors such as Accorsi, Placido, Solfrizzi, Barale and Pennacchi, the dance of the Russian Classical Ballett and the Balletes Trockadero de Monte Carlo; the Orchestra of the Teatro la Fenice in Venice, Giovanni Sollima, I Solisti Venetiwill accompany us from October to May on a beautiful journey full of art.

Satisfaction also fromcouncilor Tovowhich reaffirmed the prestige of this new program, the result of many synergies and how the Theater can also be a place for important celebrations such as the 100th anniversary of the Venezze Music Association ”.

The word then passed to director Puxeddu, who illustrated the billboard:

“The Season will start on November 18th with Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, directed by G. Emiliani and screenings by Federico Cautero. It will be a co-production with the theaters of Treviso, Bassano and Padua and we will have an international cast with Sebastian Catana in the lead role, Marco Ciaponi in the role of the Duke of Mantua and Yiulia Merkudinova – selected in the April auditions at our theater – in the role of Guild.

The beautiful title I CAPULETI EI MONTECCHI by Vincenzo Bellini will follow, under the direction of Maestro Giancarlo Andretta and the debut of Maestro Gerardo Felisatti, directed by Stefano Trespidi. The costumes and sets are by Filippo Tonon and will be built in our scenography workshop, like most of this year’s sets. The new staging will be in co-production with the theaters of Treviso, Jesi and Padua. The cast will be formed by the two young winners of the Toti Dal Monte 2022 competition and the exceptional Romeo will be the mezzo-soprano Paola Gardina from Rovigo.

After Rigoletto in 2022 and Traviata in 2021, the second part of the season will continue in 2023 with IL TROVATORE, concluding the famous popular Trilogy by Giuseppe Verdi, with a new staging in co-production with the theaters of Treviso, Novara and Jesi. These three works, composed and performed between 1851 and 1853 were performed for the first time in Rovigo between 1853 and 1854, Il Trovatore even a few months after its first performance in Rome.

The last major title will be Gioachino Rossini’s most famous work, THE BARBER OF SEVILLE with a cast of young people and a new production in co-production.

In addition to the four great titles, the classic appointment with the operetta will enrich the season, this year dedicated to THE WHITE HORSE by RJF Benatzki, staged by Fantasia in D under the direction of Stefano Giaroli.

For the space dedicated to the TeatroRagazzi, the four operas will have a preview dedicated to them and we will resume the chamber opera ANTE LUCEM in co-production with the Teatro del Lemming: a scenic writing by Massimo Munaro on music by Shostakovich and poems by Alexander Block.

Finally we will have an appointment dedicated to the little ones with Tinotino Tinotina Tinotintintin of one of the most expert composers and creators of children’s shows, Elisabetta Garilli, with live illustrations by Emanuela Bussolati and the music of the Garilli Sound Project ensemble. In addition to many other appointments of the TeatroRagazzi, as always curated by Milena Dolcetto.

The collaboration with the Conservatory will continue with the staging of the work of “The proof of a serious work” (1805) by Francesco Gnecco, under the direction of Maestro Elisabetta Maschio and directed by Anna Cuocolo, a brilliant parody of life of the theater very suitable for young audiences and families.

The concert season includes several appointments including the concert of 28 October by the Orchestra of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and that of 5 December with Giovanni Sollima conductor and soloist with the Filarmonia Veneta Orchestra, to celebrate the Association’s 100th anniversary. F. Venezze, the Christmas concert of I Solisti Veneti, the Tamburini Prize, the Gospel concert, the New Year’s concert, with special guests the bass Riccardo Zanellato, the soprano Claudia Pavone and the actress Cristina Chinaglia, accompanied by ‘Orchestra of the Conservatory which will also offer us a symphonic concert dedicated to Romanticism with Grieg’s concert for piano and Dvorak’s Symphony From the New World.

The season of prose and ballet will, as always, be in collaboration with Arteven.

“It is not easy – said Donin – to insert prose in a theater that has a strong lyrical tradition -, for this reason we always try to bring the best. Last year, despite the pandemic, we managed to achieve exceptional numbers, which we plan to repeat this year ”. And, the premises there are suits, given the most important names on the national scene including Stefano Accorsi, Andrea Pennacchi, Michele Placido, Emilio Solfrizzi, Max Pisu, Paola Quattrini, Antonio Cornacchione, the Stivalaccio Teatro company, the Trockadero ballet of Montecarlo as well as at the Russian Classical Ballet in Moscow who will play The Nutcracker on January 6th.
