Advances in the digital dollar
📍The Digital Dollar Project is moving towards the implementation of a CBDC digital currency for the dollar. On Twitter, the association created in alliance by Accenture and the Digital Dollar Foundation, announced new advances towards the implementation of a digital dollar.
According to the publication, next month will begin in the United States a regulatory sandbox which will allow the launch of a CBDC for the dollar in order to carry out a series of technical implementations of the digital currency, starting with cross-border payments. The objective of this regulatory program, according to the association, is to advance towards the exploration and implementation of a digital currency that allows the dollar to be tokenized, which is currently the main reserve currency in the world.
Although the Federal Reserve (FED) does not seem to have much enthusiasm in creating a CBDC, the Digital Dollar Project considers that the issuance of a digital dollar is a prudent decision for the United States; especially considering that dozens of national governments, including China, already have significant progress in this area.
On the other hand, Ripple, the blockchain company that faces the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), from 2020, will be one of the main entities that will participate in the regulatory sandbox prepared by the Digital Dollar Project.
