Weird Al has a peculiar answer to how to watch his biopic outside the US | Pretty Reel

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is finally out this week, and Weird Al has a crazy suggestion for fans who want to watch the biographical spoof movie outside the US Directed by Eric Appel, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story stars Daniel Radcliffe in the title role alongside an ensemble cast that includes Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Quinta Brunson as Oprah Winfrey and Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento. It also features cameos from Jack Black, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Conan O’Brien and Yankovic himself.

Bizarre: The Story of Al Yankovic is written by Yankovic and Appel and is loosely based on the musician’s life. Unlike many biopics, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story contains very few actual events from the musician’s life. Instead, it was inspired by a fake satirical trailer Appel produced in 2010 for Funny or Die and parodies typical tropes seen in many musical biopics, such as a musician struggling with drug addiction. The end result is a hilarious and bizarre film that received critical acclaim, especially for Radcliffe’s performance. Bizarre: The Al Yankovic Story was released on November 4 on the Roku channel.

Daniel Radcliffe’s movie Weird Al is proof he achieved his acting goal

To celebrate the release of Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Yankovic himself took to Twitter to answer questions about the new biopic. When someone asked how to watch the movie outside the United States, the famous musician got a surprising response that showed off his humor and wit. Check out Weird Al’s response below:

How to Watch Weird: The Al Yankovic Story Online

Unfortunately for many international Weird Al fans, there is not yet an official way to stream Weird: The Al Yankovic Story outside of the Roku channel. The biographical musical parody streams exclusively on the Roku Channel, which is only available on Roku devices in Canada and the United Kingdom. However, for viewers in the United States, the Roku Channel is available on any device with a web browser or with the Roku app. This means that anyone with access to a web browser in the US can stream Weird: The Al Yankovic for free even without an account from now on.

At this point, it’s unclear when Weird: The Al Yankovic Story might be available internationally. However, given Yankovic’s response and because the satirical biopic is arguably the biggest original movie Roku has ever distributed, it seems likely that a wider release is already planned. This could perhaps be done through a partnership with another streaming service, or through sites where viewers can rent the film. Until then, international Weird Al fans will just have to keep an eye out for the news.
