Alice Chazerand, a passionate bookseller, enthusiastically took part in the exercise. It offers 6 books that offer another look at the city of Pasteur and wine, while highlighting these essential local heritage items.

Arbois with luminous vineyards (Mêta Jura)

“A book that is not only aimed at tourists, but also at locals or those who have left the region. It’s done a lot by locals.”

The Word of Pierre (Méta Jura)

Still at Mêta Jura, “La Parole de Pierre” is a book of 14 interviews with Pierre Overnoy, winemaker in Pupillin. The winegrower was one of the precursors of natural wine. These discussions are organized by themes with photos. These last show in particular the territory of Pupillin, the work of the vine.

Pierre Overnoy evokes subjects as diverse as the Occupation, the Algerian war, local anecdotes, viticulture, wine making.

“We don’t realize the impact that Pierre Overnoy has had abroad, even in the United States”.

Louis Pasteur, a life at the service of Life (Sékoya)

Published by the Besançon publisher Sékoya, this biographical comic retraces the major stages in the life of Louis Pasteur, from his youth in the Jura to his national funeral. His great discoveries are of course discussed: stereochemistry, pasteurization, the rescue of the silk industry, the vaccine against rabies, in particular.

Maxime Schwartz of the Academy of Sciences wrote the preface and texts ofErik Orsenna introduce each chapter. Member of the French Academy, Erik Orsenna has already written about Pasteur by publishing a biography with Fayard editions in 2015, “La Vie, la Mort, la Vie”.

“It’s an easy-to-access comic, with a little contextualization in each chapter. The design is both classic and lively.

The Events, sequel to Isabel Ascencio

First published by Verticales, the Arboisian author Isabel Ascencio then joined the La Brune collection in Rouergue where she published “Délit de gosse” in 2019. “Les Events, suite” joined the stalls of the Hamac bookstore in 2022. Literature teacher at Champagnole, Isabel Ascencio “takes bold writers’ biases” describes Alice Chazerand.

After the death of her father, Joëlle Leblanc traces the thread of events which, forty years earlier, led to the death of one man and the obliteration of another. Events themselves taking root in those which, in Algeria, had resulted in independence a decade earlier, indicates the publisher.

“All the characters that the narrator evokes in flashbacks have a link with Algeria”.
