In cursed.es We have repeatedly warned about the troll accounts posing as feminists. These types of accounts always follow the same modus operandi: They define themselves in their Twitter biographies as “feminists”, “empowered” or “activists for gender equality” and then publish messages completely taken to the extreme on any topical topic (the taking of afghanistan by the Taliban, the Andalusian elections of 19-J or the strike of carriers). Thus, they get the rest of the users of the platform to identify the messages with the entire femininist movementthus manipulating the public conversation.
But not only these types of accounts contribute to manipulating the public conversation. In cursed.es We have also warned of other types of profiles: users who define themselves as “parodies” and who pretend to be well-known characters, as is the case of the journalist Rosa Villacastin. Although these types of accounts indicate in their biographies that they are “parody”, their publications go viral in an isolated and decontextualized way, contributing to generate disinformation.
@CaroNazin: an “anti-feminist parody” account that poses as Carolina Sanín
This last case is that of the user @CaroNazin. This profile indicates in its public biography both in Twitter like in Facebook What is it fake and a parody (“anti-feminist”, as he adds) of the Colombian writer Carolina Sanín.
Despite the fact that the account makes its “satirical” intention clear in its biography, the publications of this profile they go viral in isolation in the form of a screenshot, what makes it difficult, as we already counted in cursed.esthat the rest of the users of the platform know where the publications come from or whether or not they belong to a parody account since they do not know the context of the messages.
Thus, we can see how a tweet in which @CaroNazin assured that “every hug that a son wants to give his mother must have her consent” because, otherwise, “it is harassment” has become so viral on Facebook like on Twitter with statements like “when opinions become pathological diagnosis”, “how sick is society”, “this is the level of reasoning of the ‘feminists’” either “Because of women like that, men grow up hating us.”.
The decontextualized diffusion of “humorous” content that is shared as real in the form of screenshots not only occurs with the publications of Twitter accounts that are defined as satirical, but also, as we have explained in cursed.eswith other types of “humorous” content, either they come from websites, memes or publications on social platforms.
A parody account that interacts with other troll profiles
As usual in troll and/or parody accounts, these continuously interact with each other so that your posts have a greater number of retweets, favorites and responses and reach as many users as possible. In this case, the profile @CaroNazin repeatedly interacts with @ValentiValentienea profile that is currently suspended from Twitter but what, as we have explained in cursed.esindicated in his biography that he was fake Y whose profile picture came from an image bank.
Macho trolls posing as feminists to sneak it in
In damn feminism also we have compiled some of the macho troll accounts that move content taken to the extreme to ridicule and mock the feminist movement. Some of these profiles are @Insumissions, @EnfuriatedWoman either @ Spiteful3. These users pose as supporters of the movement in favor of equality and lthey spread hoaxes in the name of feminism like that “chess or bologna are sexist”, that “asking a woman for the time is a sign of superiority and oppression” or that “eating honey is machismo because it is produced by worker bees whose work is expropriated”.
