Twitter suspends Donald Trump’s account.
“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” says Elon Musk’s message posted this Saturday on Twitter.
The new owner of Twitter announced this Saturday that he will restore Donald Trump’s account on the social network after promoting a poll that ended with a result of 51.8% of votes in favor of the former president of the United States.
The announcement was made through his official account after the 24-hour period to respond to the survey that had around 15 million participants had elapsed.
The mogul, who bought the network for $44 billion, also said in a series of tweets that “Twitter’s content moderation council will comprise representatives with widely divergent views, which will undoubtedly include the civil rights community and groups that combat violence fueled by hate”.
Donald Trump announced his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election this week.
It is still unknown if Trump will return to Twitter because he has publicly stated his intention to use the platform that he promoted, Trust Social.
He has also said that Musk’s social network has had “serious problems”among which are the appearance of false profiles.
However, the Republican stated that he is glad that it was Musk who bought the social network.
Before buying Twitter, Musk had indicated that among the people he would welcome to Twitter was the former president.
This Friday, the billionaire announced the unblocking of the Twitter accounts of writer Jordan Peterson, comedian Kathy Griffin and the conservative parody outlet The Babylon Bee.
Muk in the middle of a whirlwind
Following Elon Musk’s ultimatum to Twitter workers on Thursday over whether to stay or quit the company, several messages full of insults against the billionaire were projected on the outside of the main building of the social network in San Francisco.
“Supreme parasite, lawless oligarch, insecure colonizer, cruel hoarder, mediocre child, megalomaniac,” were some of the messages that could be read from the outskirts.

Since he bought the social network, Musk announced a massive layoff of employees, warned those who remained at the firm to abide by the company’s new rules and sent a message on Friday announcing the temporary closure of offices until next week. .
When Twitter was in the hands of its previous owner, Jack Dorsey, the firm had issued a lifetime ban on Donald Trump’s account in January 2021.
The account was first suspended in the aftermath of the storming of the US Capitol on January 6 of that year. At the time, Twitter justified the decision by arguing that it did “due to the risk of further incitement to violence.”
