Return of a political scandal at the bar. Two Parisian investigating judges decided, Monday, September 5, to send the Russian artist Piotr Pavlenski and his partner Alexandra de Taddeo to correctional, according to AFP. They will appear before the Paris Criminal Court for “invasion of privacy”. Both are suspected of having broadcast videos of a sexual nature by the ex-tenor of the majority Benjamin Griveaux, in February 2020.
The dissemination of these sextapes caused a political scandal. Former Secretary of State, government spokesperson and deputy, Benjamin Griveaux then withdrew his candidacy for mayor of Paris, subsequently abandoning his political career to convert to entrepreneurship. Also a test “very difficult and very violent[e] » for his professional and family life, he declared in January 2021 before the investigating magistrates.
In the wake of the broadcast of the videos, Piotr Pavlenski, 38, and his companion, 31, were indicted on February 18, 2020.
The Russian artist, a political refugee in France since 2017, had claimed responsibility for the distribution, production and editing of the videos that Benjamin Griveaux, 44, had sent to Alexandra de Taddeo during their brief relationship, between May and August 2018.

Famous in particular for having cut off a piece of his ear, nailed his testicles on Red Square in Moscow or having set fire to the facade of a branch of the Banque de France in Paris, Pavlenski had described his approach, presented as artistic and militant. , with the slogan “pornopolitics”.
This trial is not the only one that the Russian will have to face: he will also be tried for “gun violence” committed on New Year’s Eve 2020 at a private party in the Saint-Germain-des-Près district (Paris).
Me Juan Branco cleared
In their order, the judges note that the two defendants ” recognized “ having deliberately recorded these images, Alexandra de Taddeo explaining to keep them as a precautionary measure in order to ” prove “ their relationship.
The magistrates, on the other hand, cast doubt on the assertions of the latter according to which the dissemination of the images “would have been carried out by her companion without her consent, or even without her having been informed beforehand”. They rather hold back his “direct involvement” in view of “several facts” : the financial support of an association that she chaired at the site “pornopolitics”but also messages supposedly written by her or attributed to those close to her when the scandal broke.
