France 2 broadcast last night the first episodes of “Diane de Poitiers”, an ambitious series directed by Josée Dayan with Isabelle Adjani. Internet users were very disappointed by this historical fresco.
France 2 launched yesterday evening with great fanfare the broadcast of the first two episodes of Diane de Poitiers, its new historical series directed by Josée Dayan, who, 17 years after Les Rois Maudits, this time attacks the myth of the mysterious favorite of Henry II. For the occasion, Isabelle Adjani, who had shone in the 90s for her interpretation of Queen Margot, slipped into the sumptuous costumes of Diane de Poitiers.
For the launch of this new prestigious series, France 2 managed to bring together 2.84 million French people and 13.5% of the public (7.0% of FRDA-50), which places fiction in third place in the world. podium, behind M6 (Love is in the meadow) and TF1 (Le saut du Diable 2). Rather disappointing figures for this ambitious historical work.
And if at first glance Diane de Poitiers had everything to please – a successful director, a five-star cast composed in particular of Gérard Depardieu, Hugo Becker or Guillaume Gallienne, sumptuous sets and majestic outfits – the series had to struggle to convince Internet users who have not failed to rush on Twitter to judge, among other things, the performance of Isabelle Adjani.
Many also underlined the lack of modernity of the production, and did not fail to draw parallels between the character of Nostradamus, played by Gérard Depardieu, and Father Fouras.
Find the last two episodes of Diane de Poitiers Monday, November 14 from 9:10 p.m. on France 2. The historic series is already available in full on Salto.
