Wednesday 18 JANUARY
Based on Anton Chekhov / directed by Cyril Teste / Collectif MxM
Théâtre de l’Union**, Limoges** / Duration 2h / + 15 years old / Wed. 18 Jan. 8 p.m. / Thu. Jan. 19 7 p.m. / Fri. Jan. 20 7 p.m.
Between theater and cinema, The Seagull takes a breath of fresh air.
Trigorine and Arkadina, writer and actress in the prime of life, enjoy their celebrity. In their shadow, Nina and Treplev, artists still unknown, admire them madly, seek each other out, dream of absolutes and recognition. Art is at the heart of the characters’ passions, conflicts and internal tortures. Here, Chekhov’s fable is dissected, scrutinized by the cinema, live on set and you are taken on a shoot! The form, as theatrical as it is digital, lets the raw energy of the bodies shine through and exacerbates the tensions of the characters.
