Released a few weeks ago, the “Reboot” series went unnoticed. And yet, it deserves a look! We follow the setbacks of actors in a sitcom from the early 2000s which is entitled to a new version, twenty years later.
“Reboot” thus almost pays into parody, making fun of Hollywood codes. We discover in particular that the new screenwriter of the show is the daughter of the former producer of the original version and that they have some family disputes to settle. Two of the actors have had an affair in the past and are afraid of succumbing again (the filming of one of the sex scenes will also give rise to an embarrassing situation for the actor, taken by a reaction that is a little too visible ). As for the kid from the original soap opera, he is now an adult, but who remains basically a retarded teenager, with his mother (nymphomaniac by the way) who always accompanies him on the sets.
Uneven, but sometimes jubilant, “Reboot” therefore deserves our attention, as it is a satire of the world of television today where, to limit risk-taking, we use up to the string of proven recipes. And we can only appreciate the irony of seeing such a production land on Disney+, a good part of whose programs are made up of reboots or sequels to cult series and films!
