Severance, everything you need to know about the Ben Stiller series

The television series created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle premiered on Apple TV + on February 18 (also visible on Sky Q and via the app on Now Smart Stick). It is enjoying tremendous success. Let’s see why, sifting through everything you need to know about this project (which will begin shooting for the second season in a few days)

Severance is the TV series created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle that is keeping everyone glued to the screen.

Previewed on Apple TV + on February 18 (also visible on Sky Q and via the app on the Now Smart Stick), this American thriller serial first of all features an exceptional cast.

Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette are the names of the stellar cast that enrich this project.

The protagonist is Mark (played by Scott), a Lumon Industries employee who will agree to be subjected to a very special program.

His non-work memories will be separated from his work memories, subjecting himself to what we could truly call a surgical separation between private and personal life. A dream for many employers, in short, clearly shown as social criticism, in a dystopian key.

When Lumon Industries employees walk into the office, they remember nothing about life outside of work. This is thanks to a chip that they implanted in his brain, with their consent, which is however conditio sine qua non to be able to work, so let’s say that the choice is not totally spontaneous.

The thriller genre innervates the plot of this series: when a new colleague arrives, the protagonists will begin to have some doubts, supported by a number of mysterious events that will push Mark to investigate. The problem is the following: when he is in the office he is a person while when he goes out he becomes another person, so to investigate will be two different characters, two different versions of the same man.

A plot worthy of Charlie Kaufman and Memento by Christopher Nolan, in short.

All the characters

The Champions, Ben Stiller and Cate Blanchett protagonists

Let’s find out all the characters of the series together. Starting clearly from Mark Scout, the protagonist played by Adam Scott. He is employed at Lumon Industries, in the Macrodata Refinement division which is part of the “seeding” program. He will agree to undergo the program that separates work and personal memories.

Zach Cherry instead plays Dylan, Mark’s colleague; Britt Lower is Helly, the “new girl” who was hired to replace a previous employee named Petey.
Tramell Tillman stars as Seth Milchick, the supervisor. Jen Tullock is Devon, Mark’s pregnant sister. Dichen Lachman plays Ms. Casey, the wellness consultant. Michael Chernus steps into the role of Rickon, Devon’s husband, author of self-helping manuals.

The legendary John Turturro is Irving, Mark’s collaborator and a great supporter of company policy.
And there is also the legendary Christopher Walken, in the role of Burt, the head of the Optics and Design division.
Joining the chorus of this already legendary cast is Patricia Arquette, who here plays Harmony Cobel, in the double role of Mark’s boss and Mrs. Selvig, that is, Mark’s neighbor, in the sense that for the protagonist there are these two separate identities of the same person. Because, we remember, once they enter the office all these characters fill a role that, once they leave at the end of the shift, ends and also forget.
