Anatar. The movie review

Unconvincing sci-fi comedy that mimics Avatar, following the style of Scary Movie, but with difficulty finds the irreverent and funny parody key.

Anatar is a sci-fi comedy that was born as a parody of the blockbuster Avatarsreferencing the Monty Python movies and the comedy of titles such as The Naked Gun, Robin Hood – A Man in Tights And Scary movie. Compared to James Cameron’s blockbuster, Anatar reverse roles within the story. In fact, it is the aliens who are technologically advanced and who travel through space due to problems of habitability with their own planet. Humans, rough and violent, are the inferior people to be conquered. The Anatar people, humanoid aliens who evolved from ducks, after having brought their planet to collapse are looking for a new celestial body to call a nest. In their space pilgrimage they land on Pandoro, a place where living beings and nature have found their own strange balance.

Love, war, spaceships and space ducks are the ingredients of this grotesque modern fairy tale about accepting what is different from us. “Anatar wants to present itself – says the producer Salvatore Scarica – as one of the openers of a new film genre: the #Spaghetti-Fi. We aim to bring a new form of heritage of Italian parody to theaters and screens while maintaining the ironic spirit of this genre. Anatar is a brilliant comedy, grotesque, sci-fi and, at the same time, satirical and observer of reality. Suitable for young and old, the mockbuster by Avatars it will amaze you”. Here, the right word, “grotesque”. Certainly not surreal, not even particularly funny, to be honest. Other genre film and television references could be added, such as Star WarsStar Trek or Space 1999but unfortunately they are not enough to get back on track, allow the courageous staging to earn a position of interest and appeal in the panorama inflated in a parody key.In the setting of the 1400s, almost 1500s (within the Cilento Park), recalling a famous joke by We just have to cry, from the planet Pandora, made unlivable by the feathered humanoid extraterrestrials, we reach Pandoro, the flat village planet with no horizons to overcome. The crasis “Anatar” is served, not with orange, this time with apples, the coveted and coveted by the conquering webbed people. Alan Smithee is a pseudonym, he hides himself and would like to be irreverent but he can’t, he would like to entertain and embarrass in unison, most of the time he’s boring. But the thing that makes everything even more impalpable and at times terribly childish, in the sense of tenderly harmless, is also the scarce propensity for a healthy and sincere “unhinged vision”, which would surely have enlightened the gaze or at least ignited it with ingenuity and engaging unconsciousness.
