Talented actor extremely appreciated in England but also all over the world, Rowan Atkinson is known for his atypical acting, cult roles, but also his own humor. It is therefore with great pleasure that we can currently find it in a new Serie on netflix !
A new series for a legendary actor
The project did not make that much noise and the teasing before its release did not rest on an incessant hype on the internet. The fact remains that the new miniseries starring Rowan Atkinson was eagerly awaited by thousands (millions?) of fans. If you really didn’t follow, know that this one is called Alone with the bee (Man vs. Beein original version), that it puts the actor almost exclusively forward, without counting on the terrible enemy who faces him during nine episodes: the famous bee.
Before dwelling more in depth on this series, let us therefore take a few lines to return to the course of Rowan Atkinson who, since the early 1990s, has established himself as an essential actor in the comedy genre. The Briton, now 67, is known for his original acting above all based on body expressions, especially on the face.
Because even if he got into the habit of expressing himself orally over the years, particularly in his role as Johnny English, a true parody of James Bond, it is especially with his interpretation of the absolutely cult character of Mr. Bean, a blundering man and very little talkative, that the actor acquired his fame thanks to a series in the first half of the 90s, as well as several spin-off films. And if Rowan Atkinson has evolved since then, it is obvious that the fans of these old productions will not be disoriented with Alone with the bee !
A man, a bee and plenty of humor
Alone in front of the bee, it is therefore a series exclusively available on Netflix since June 24th. We find Rowan Atkinson in the skin of Trevor, a father who wants to make his daughter happy but who is horribly clumsy. Suffice to say that when a bee lands in the luxurious house that he is supposed to watch as a guardian, things will quickly go wrong. But how is it possible to ensure that a real rivalry settling between a man and a wasp, which is moreover behind closed doors, spans nine episodes?
The answer is simple: apart from the first which lasts 19 minutes, these barely exceed 10 minutes each, so that the series can be watched in around 1h45, watch in hand! A perfectly assumed choice although originally unforeseen, allowing to maintain a breathless rhythm throughout, as Rowan Atkinson recently explained to Digital Spy : “Creatively, we imagined [Seul face à l’abeille] like a movie. When we were writing and creating, we knew we had to make a story spanning roughly the length of a film. But then came the idea of cutting it up into 10 parts.”
In any case, we complain about the platform (whose name is not mentioned) which “would not” of the series when Atkinson and company proposed it to him. Indeed, despite far from rave reviews, Alone with the bee is a hit on Netflix and is currently Top 5 Series in France!
